Daryl Hannah: Biodiesel Fan

ContactMusic.com:
Hollywood actress DARYL HANNAH insists millions of people could follow her example of driving a car fuelled by vegetable oil - they just need a diesel engine.

The KILL BILL beauty, based primarily in Colorado, lives an environmentally-friendly existence with a solar-powered home. And when she leaves the confines of her house, she drives around in her 1983 EL CAMINO, which has had no special work done to it to get it running on bio-diesel.

She says, "Basically, in 1900 at the World Fair, RUDOLPH DIESEL invented the diesel engine to run on peanut oil so farmers could grow their own fuel. So any diesel engine can still run on vegetable oil. It doesn't cause greenhouse gases and has lower carbon dioxide and all the other emissions.

  1. in poland we have "bio-components" for fuel. 10% of gasolin is hell... whats the english name.. oil made out of a crop, dont matter what its name, but its for sure ecological. And it was introduced by government, not an actress - and thats the right way. Governments should make us ride with bio-fuels, not famous ppl. saab 9-3

  2. i saw daryl hannah on the wayne brady show. she talked about using vegetable oil instead of diesel fuel. i had never heard of this before. i checked it out on the web. i bought a 1980 mercedes 300 sd for $150. i am lucky in that i can buy biodiesel in tampa where i live. the car runs great on it. the oil doesn't break down as fast and biodiesels cleaning effect makes it really run smooth. i pull a 10x6 trailer loaded with big screen tv's and get 20+ mpg. i buy non-working big screens, fix them then sell them. i tell everyone i meet about biodiesel. i show them how good the car runs and let them smell the exhaust. few people have heard about it and most people are amazed. thanks daryl hannah. i am spreading the word.

  3. I think if more celebs like Daryl start endorsing biodiesel, it would be just great...whereas over 30% of cars in Europe run on diesel, a miniscule % in the US do...more celeb endorsements ( hopefully at no cost!) would be a great boost to diesel engines and biodiesel in the US

You can find more inputs about Biodiesel at The Biodiesel WWW Encyclopedia
