New Biodiesel Rebate Program

Press release from CaseStack about their new Biodiesel Rebate program:
"The Green Rebate Program, which begins July 1 and ends September 1, 2006, offers a rebate of 10 cents per gallon, up to $50.00 for the truck drivers... Companies can also participate by taking part in the Green Consolidation Program where they can contribute seamlessly to the environment without making drastic changes to their operations. CaseStack will identify all participating companies as Green Partners and include them in all recognition marketing such as national and regional targeted advertising campaigns, PR announcements and viral marketing. The Green Consolidation Program is the first of many goodwill programs CaseStack plans on implementing over the years."

  1. Hi Eric - hey, great blog. I'm very interested in learning more. Living in Billings, MT, but soon to be relocating to Missoula. I drive a diesel excursion and would love to make the switch to biodiesel.

Couple of questions that you might be able to help me with (feel free to just point me to previous posts if you've already talked about this).

    1. Why is biodiesel SO much more expensive? We just had a station start selling it here in Billings, and they're charging 50 cents more per gallon. I have a 42 gallon tank. That's $20 bucks a tank just to be green, and I don't make enough green to be able to do that. What I'm wondering here is, "Why isn't biodiesel 10 to 20 cents a gallon cheaper - do that and I think diesel owners would switch quickly. Make it 10 to 20 centers cheaper than regular gas, and I think regular folks would start thinking about switching over to diesel.

    2. Is it true that if you make the switch to biodiesel, you're probably going to be replacing some parts, as the BD runs cleaner, thereby scrubbing your engine and gunking up filters, etc? I've heard you face about $1000 dollars worth of repairs if you switch over. Is that FUD? Or legit?

    3. Is there any way of finding out all the locations that currently sell BD? I'm thinking a google map would be nice here...

Thanks much for any thoughts, comments, or suggestions.
